Description:
A Calgary staple, the Mercury, as it's known, is a dark wood and black leather boîte that favors complex cocktails and candlelight. The walls are lined with large-scale classic boxing photos, like George Chuvalo vs. Muhammad Ali. This is where young, stylish Calgarians go for a night out, though if quiet is your bag you might want to move on around 10pm. That's when the DJ starts, and the tiny bar becomes a heaving, impromptu dance floor. Around the corner, the Merc's dining room -- connected by a door in the back -- is a little quieter, and the food is great; its patio is a perfect place to enjoy a cocktail and a summer sunset.
