Top 10:

Calgary Pizza

  • The Best of NileGuide
  • Pizza. So simple but so good. Calgary has all of the standard, franchise pizza places. All of them are ok, but none of them are really good. The local secrets are the best, and there's a number of great options.

For traditional, Neapolitan pizza, Pulcinella in Kensington is the best bet. They serve a tasty soft-crusted pizza with great flavor. Rea's Italian Cucina is another classic, Italian pizza. Delicious. Il Centro is across the street from Chinook Centre in a strip mall. But, it has one of Calgary's best pizzas.

Spiro's on 17th is a favorite of mine. The Greek restaurant is quaint (and almost tacky), but the food is worth it! Coco Brooks is a local legend, famous for it's personal sized take-and-freeze pizzas, which are sold for a variety of charity fundraisers around Calgary.

For the classic, meaty and well covered pizzas, Nick's Steakhouse and Bar, across from McMahon Stadium, has a great reputation. It's also the perfect spot to fill up before a Stampeders game. Others who make pizza similar to Nick's, Sammy's World's Greatest Pizza and Oakridge Pizza, which are both in the SW.

Those who enjoy the take-and-bake pizza will like Nick and Willy's Pizza. Or, the wholegrain crust, healthy pizza lovers should try the Wicked Wedge.
