Calgary has a number of brand name hotels, such as Sheraton, Best Western, Holiday Inn, Delta, etc. While many of these hotels don't trouble themselves with being 4 or 5 stars, they do take the time to make your stay pleasant. Most of the high-end brand name hotels in Calgary are downtown. But, some of the airport hotels are very nice as well.
The Sheraton Eau Claire is one of Calgary's finest hotels. For a long time, it was rated as Calgary's best hotel, but that honor has recently fallen to Le Germain, which is a boutique hotel. But, the Sheraton Eau Claire is the hotel of choice for visiting NHL teams, which gives some sense of the standard of comfort and service they provide their guests. It is also located next to Prince's Island Park, which is a lovely downtown get-away.
The Palliser Hotel is Calgary's original upper-end hotel, built for the railway in the early 1900's. This hotel has kept much of its original charms, and still has a railway museum attached to it. The Palliser is now owned by the Fairmont Resorts company, who own most of Canada's famous hotels, including the Banff Springs Hotel. The Palliser is close to Stephen Ave and the Calgary Tower.
For a quick stop in Calgary, Delta Airport Hotel is located at the airport. It's a convenient place for those who choose to avoid the hassle of shuttles and transit. The Delta provides great rooms and service.
