Calgary is the gateway to Canada's Banff/Jasper National Parks. Calgary is also the home to the Calgary Stampede's rodeo and cowboys, and it is one of Canada's leading commercial centers, too. Calgary has a broad range of hotels for business and leisure travel. Be aware that Calgary is a sprawling city. It's a long way from one side to the other.
The Sheraton Eau Claire is located next to Prince's Island Park, which is a welcome escape from Calgary's bustling downtown. This hotel welcomes most of the visiting NHL teams that come to play against the Flames, and it was also the site of my wedding reception. The Sheraton is connected by Plus-15 to the rest of the downtown core, making it comfortable even on the coldest days of the year. Hotel Le Germain was recently renovated, making it one of Calgary's finest. The Palliser is Calgary's oldest and most elegant, and it is a member of Fairmont, which also owns the Banff Springs Hotel.
Acclaim Hotel and the Sheraton Cavalier are among the best of Calgary's airport hotels. Although they are not very close to downtown, they provide excellent quality, pleasant decor, and lots of extras. The shuttle service to the airport is very efficient.
