Southeast Hotels in Calgary

Most of Calgary's industrial area is on its east side. For the most part, it's best to avoid the South East north of Glenmore Trail. Areas, such as Forest Lawn, Ogden, et al, have a rougher reputation than the communities farther south. A lot of the SE hotels are on McLeod Trail (I'd say a lot of the SW hotels, too, because McLeod is more-or-less the dividing line). These hotels are, for the most part, quite good. The location on or near McLeod makes getting around Calgary quite easy. Shopping, restaurants, and entertainments are easy to access, and the C-train runs parallel to McLeod, which makes getting to the Stampede Grounds very simple.

Delta South is a very nice hotel with two buildings attached to each other by Plus-15 over a fairly busy road. This hotel is a 3-star hotel, which is among the highest ranked hotels in Calgary outside of downtown. Southland Drive has a C-train station just across McLeod Trail from the hotel. It's an easy walk, especially during Stampede week when the weather is nice.

Deerfoot Inn and Casino is located in the deep south near Douglasdale, basically at the junction of Deerfoot and Barlow. This area is very much commercial and industrial, but the hotel has developed a reputation for bringing in quality entertainers and being a fun place. The pool has a decent water slide, which isn't common for Calgary hotels. Be warned the morning traffic on Deerfoot Trail can be slow moving.

Pathway Cottage is south of Fish Creek Park, which is a long way south. But, the bed & breakfast backs onto Fish Creek, and that's a good thing. Fish Creek Park is once of Calgary's best hiking, picnicking, and biking spots. This well forested park is a creek-valley with lots of trails and areas to explore. It's also easy to head southwards out of town from here.
