Being outdoors is something Calgarians love to do. In the city, we have many great parks for bike rides or strolls. We also have some great outdoor attractions, such as Heritage Park and the Zoo. Calgary has a lot of golf courses to choose from. Many of these are great places to enjoy a summer day. Other places are great for winter days, such as Canada Olympic Park.
Calgary's vast pathway system along the Bow River is a great way to get around town. Whether you enjoy biking, jogging or rollerblading, you'll be in good company along these paths. Many Calgarians get out to use them every day, even in the winter. This pathway system connects many of the city's major parks, from Bowness to Fish Creek. You can go for miles and miles.
Canada Olympic Park has a ski hill, cross-country ski course, bike trails, bobsleigh and luge, and more. This facility hosted the 1988 Winter Olympics ski jumping and bobsleigh events. Now, it is home to North America's largest urban half-pipe, and receives many visitors each year. Equipment rentals are available at the park.
Kananaskis not only has one of Alberta's best golf courses, it is full of recreational activities, such as rock climbing, hiking, and fishing. It is Calgary's backyard.
