If your kids love cowboys, dinosaurs, horse-back rides, or just being outside, then Calgary is a great place to visit. Calgary is known as a great place to get outdoors! So, if your kids can't handle the thought of another hour sitting in a restaurant or looking at art, try something from the following list.
Heritage Park is the best children's attraction I've ever found in the world. I'm not puffing up my own city too much when I say that, either. We take our children here almost every week, and they love it each and every time. There's fun, classic rides, such as the ferris wheel, the "whip," the "caterpillar," etc., and there's candy stores, a bakery, an ice cream shop, farm animals, a steam engine train, a fort, a teepee, and much much more.
The Zoo is another great place for kids. All kids love animals. Calgary has a section for dinosaurs, too! Of course, they are of the life-size, plastic variety.
Calgary has a number of get parks. Fish Creek Park is huge and perfect for bike rides. Bowness Park has a fantastic skating area in the winter. Nosehill Park is massive and a great place to walk a dog. Other nice parks include Edworthy Park and Stanley Park, both of which are near our rivers.
If you're downtown, check out the Calgary Tower, and see if your little ones are courageous enough to stand on the glass bottom floor! Or, head over to the Science Center, where there's always a new, interactive learning environment.
Calaway Park is a theme-park with roller coasters and other rides, but the season is short. It's great for the summer months. But, Canada Olympic Park is fun year round, if you want to ski or bike.
