NileGuide Expert Says:
The lakes in Banff National Park are absolutely beautiful. Any trip to Alberta that doesn't include a trip to Lake Louise or Lake Moraine is incomplete. If you missed out, you'll just have to come back!
NileGuide Expert tip:
Be careful not to feed the Gray Jays, aka Whiskey Jacks, at Lake Louise. If you offer a crumb of bread to one bird, you'll be swarmed by two dozen more, and they're aggressive!
Discover the Canadian Rockies' favorite resort town and its beautiful environment. You'll visit the intriguing hoodoos earth pillars shaped by centuries of wind and then travel along the famous Bow Valley Parkway before stopping for a photo opportunity of views of Castle Mountain. The trip isn't complete without visiting Lake Louise, which reflects the splendor of a picture-perfect postcard!
Following the Trans-Canada Highway, watch the Olympic city dissolve into the foothills as the majestic Rockies rise ahead. Pass by the Three Sisters, Fairholme and Rundle mountain ranges en-route to the charming mountain resort town of Banff.
Once in Banff, enjoy a commentated tour that includes Bow Falls, Surprise Corner and the Hoodoos Lookout. After spending the first part of your day in Banff, it's off to Lake Louise and Moraine Lake along the scenic Bow Valley Parkway. Passing stately Castle Mountain, your route winds through the mountains to picturesque Lake Louise.
You will have time to walk along the shore and capture the perfect photo of the lake. Before heading back to Banff, visit Moraine Lake and the valley of the ten peaks. Travel back to Banff and have a brief dinner stop before heading back to Calgary for the evening.
