Calgary's entry in the world of major junior hockey -- an amateur feeder league for the NHL, where top players spend 3 or 4 years, from the age of 16 onward, in hopes of pro glory -- is a well-attended, well-liked, and inexpensive option for the bonafide hockey fan. Unless you're an ice hockey aficionado, don't bet on name recognition, as most of the teams in the Western Hockey League are from significantly smaller centers (the Kamloops Blazers, the Spokane Chiefs), but the product on the ice is fast, spirited, and the best hockey under the age of 19 you're bound to find anywhere.
