• The best place for overnighting lies right outside of town 2km (1 1/4 miles) to the north in the direction of Hirsau. Parts of the foundation of this historic hotel date from 1092, when the site functioned as a monastery that was noted for housing overnight visitors. Today, the establishment retains its medieval touches and antique charm. The good-size rooms have lots of Schwarzwald-inspired features, including pinewood trim and reproductions of traditional furniture. Bathrooms are tidily kept with tub/shower combos. The oldest, most atmospheric, and charming bedrooms are nos. 114 to 235.
