Take time to explore the 1- to 4-mile loop trails that wind through the woods.

Description:

A well-preserved historic village founded in 1766 in Wharton State Forest.  Once a bog iron and glass making industrial center during the Revolutionary War, Batsto remained an important ironworks until the 1850s, and doubles as the Wharton State Forest visitor's center.  This Pine Barrens village consists of thirty-three historic buildings and structures including the Batsto Mansion, gristmill, sawmill, general store, workers' homes and post office.

Several 1 to 4 mile loop trails offer opportunities to get out and enjoy the swamp maple, Atlantic white cedar, scrub pine and scrub oak that grow in these woods.

Open daily sunrise to sunset.
