  • The Best of NileGuide
  • Among the best restaurants in Campeche are those serving fresh seafood, straight from the Gulf of Mexico Water's at the edge of the city. Campechan regional cooking puts a local spin on traditional Mexican cuisine. My #1 choice is Cenaduria Los Portales, is located in front of the picturesque arcade that surrounds Plaza San Francisco, which is beautifully illuminated at night. Choices include appetizers, soups, and baguette sandwiches. Occupying the #2 spot is La Pigua, one of the top restaurants on the Yucatan Peninsula. As an appetizer, try the Pan de Cazon - Campeche's most traditional dish: shredded and spiced tender baby shark. Hungry in the middle of the night? Look no further than my #3 choice, La Parroquia. It never closes, couldn't be more conveniently located (one-half block from the main square), and serves pretty good Mexican food.
