The Fairmont Hotels in the Canadian Rockies have helped make this one of the choice tourist destinations in Canada. The Banff Springs Hotel is a world famous icon, a castle in the midst of soaring mountain peaks. The "Million Dollar View" of the Bow River Valley is one of Canada's most treasured vistas. Chateau Lake Louise sits on the shores of one of Canada's prized emerald mountain lakes. The annual ice sculpting contest is amazing.
Mount Engadine Lodge is a small outfit, mostly unknown, tucked away in Kananaskis country. The nearby meadow is called Canada's "Serengeti" because of the quantity of migrating wildlife through the river valley. This lodge is considered one of Canada's 'hidden gems' by numerous publications, including Canadian Geographic.
Kananaskis Village is a convenient place from which to enjoy the Provincial Park. The Delta Lodge at Kananaskis is a relaxing hotel with a great pool and easy access to Nakiska Ski area, the Kananaskis Golf Course, and the myriad of trails and recreational activities.
Along Banff Avenue, you'll find dozens of hotels. In fact, it can feel like the whole town is made up of hotels, at first. Many of these are excellent, such as the Fox and Caribou. The Rimrock Hotel is not on Banff Ave. It is near the Hot Springs. In my opinion, the Rimrock has some of the best restaurants and views in all of Banff.
