Description:
The menu at this pleasant and informal restaurant blends French accents with North American favorites. Choose from a broad choice of salads and appetizers -- you could easily make a meal of the small plates, such as duck confit rillettes, crab tartar, baked brie, and even nachos. Main courses emphasize regional and organic produce, meats, and fish; wild B.C. salmon comes with chardonnay cream sauce and chicken breast is stuffed with local forest mushrooms and drizzled with basil cream. Pastas are especially good -- my favorite is arugula penne with chorizo, goat cheese, pine nuts, and dried tomato pesto. Desserts are all made in-house. The knotty pine interior is divided into a bar and dining room, though the distinction disappears when the cafe is busy, which is often.
