NileGuide Expert tip:

Want to get the most out of your heli or cat ski experience? Revelstoke's Outdoor Centre offers prep courses for first-time heli and cat skiers. It also is a leader in research and training in backcountry skills and safety.

Description:

For many skiers and snowboarders, Revelstoke Mountain Resort's terrain and powder snow can't be matched. With the longest lift-accessible vertical drop in either Canada or the United States (5620 feet/1,713 meters at present) and direct access to both heli and cat skiing from the base, this relatively new ski resort has already garnered a loyal group of followers.

Most of its terrain is dedicated to advanced and intermediate runs, with approximately 7 percent of its runs committed to beginners. Its 5,000 skiable acres/ 2,023 hectares include 54 runs and 5 bowls (3 of which are set aside for cat skiing). For those who like their powder deep, the Selkirk Mountains offer some of the best ski terrain in North America.

The Selkirks' average snowfall of 40-60 feet/ 12-19 meters per year, and their close proximity to the cities of Revelstoke and Golden have been drawing heli-skiers and snowboarders for years. Revelstoke Mountain Resort makes it even easier to reach the great powder and experience what skiing and snowboarding in British Columbia is all about.
