The Chateau Lake Louise is a great place to go on a day, or an overnight trip.
Day Note
Just two hours out of Calgary, the Chateau Lake Louise is a beautiful hotel set on a lake that is picturesque no matter what time of year.
If you have the energy, hike up the Lake Agnes trail to the tea shop at the top. Otherwise, walk leisurely along the border of the lake, take some photos (take lots of photos! the colour of the water turns out great) and have a drink in the hotel lounge - ask for a table by the window.
If you're visiting in the winter, go for a sleigh ride along the lake - you can book one at www.brewsteradventures.com
If you're planning to stay the night though, go back into the town of Lake Louise, Banff or Canmore - you'll find a much better selection of hotels and restaurants in these places.
The Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise is one of the most beautiful locations in the Rockies. Situated within Banff National Park, on the banks of the emerald Agnes Lake and at the foot of Victoria Glacier, the views are breathtaking. The Chateau Lake Louise was built by Canadian Pacific Railroad and is now a popular spot for day-trippers and overnight guests. There’s a 7km hiking trail that will take you along the lake to a teahouse at the top, and there are several activities you can do in the area, such as hiking, skiing, biking and fishing. Morraine Lake is close by as well.
