  • Do you find yourself craving a margarita, authentic Mexican tacos, or enchiladas, or are you dying to try mole, one of Mexico's most unique and complex dishes?  Well, look no further.  Amid the high-rise condos and luxury resorts of Cancun's hotel zone, you'll find some of the best Mexican restaurants in the area.

Mexican food is more than just tacos and burritos.  In fact, the food varies greatly from region to region.  Most of the Mexican restaurants in Cancun serve dishes you are familiar with but, you may find some things at Labna and Calenda Oaxaca that you've never heard of.  You see, Labna specializes in traditional Yucatecan food, while Calenda Oaxaca serves up food from the state of Oaxaca.

In addition to great Mexican cuisine, several of the restaurants have something extra that sets them apart from the pack.  La Parrilla and Hacienda Sisal have regular performances by mariachi bands, and Perico's puts on a show and gets the crowd involved in the fun.  La Destileria offers tequila tours, which tell you about the history of tequila, and how it's made, and ends up with a tequila tasting.  And, Paloma Bonita and La Habichuela are very pretty, and romantic restaurants, that are perfect for a special night out on the town.

Recently, Mexico was honored by having UNESCO give Mexican cuisine World Heritage status so do yourself a favor and go out to try the food at several of Cancun's incredible Mexican restaurants, during your next trip to the area.
