Get to know the many sides of Cancun. It's not all about wild parties and tourist-filled venues. Immerse yourself in the local vibe and stay in the neighborhood hotels. You'll get a feel for what it's like to live there-and you may well get hooked in.
Avenida Yaxchilan is a busy street that is filled with lively bars and restaurants, many of which have live bands perform at night. It's also a couple of blocks from El Parque de Las Palapas, a large park that is popular with locals (especially on the weekends). Great, authentic Mexican and Yucatecan food can be found in and around the park.
On Yaxchilan, it's not unusual to see mariachi bands sitting, or standing, around waiting to be hired for a last-minute gig. For the right price, they'll break into song right on the street corner.
Ramada Cancun City and Hotel Xbalamque are right on Yaxchilan Avenue, but other downtown hotels are only a few minutes away, by taxi.
Closer to Plaza Las Americas/Malecon Americas, the large mall in downtown Cancun, you'll find B2B Malecon Plaza hotel, City Express Cancun, Sens Cancun, and Oasis America.
Suites Gaby just down the street from Cancun's famed Mercado 28 flea market.
