Top 10:

Cancun Boating

  • The Best of NileGuide
  • Bobbing masts and fluttering sails-there may be no better way to soak in the offerings, and the sunshine, of Cancun than boating. Whether you want to take a leisurely dinner cruise, a wild booze cruise, or a high-speed thrill ride solely for adrenaline junkies, you'll find it in Cancun.

The Jungle Tour, where you drive your own small speedboat (only holds a couple of people), is a real crowd pleaser. The tour is short, only around an hour, but people absolutely love driving those little boats around the lagoon and through the mangroves.

If you prefer to leave the driving to someone else, the Captain Hook Cruise and Lobster Dinner cruise are both great. The Captain Hook boats look like pirate ships and the staff is dressed in full pirate regalia. It's a fun time for kids and adults. The Lobster Dinner cruise is a more relaxed affair and is nice for a romantic night out. The Trimaran Cruise over to Isla Mujeres is a relaxing way to travel to the island for a fun day-trip.

Caribbean Carnival is a party cruise (aka "booze cruise") that takes you from Cancun to the island of Isla Mujeres. On the island, the party continues and you also have dinner, before boarding the boat to dance and party all the way back to Cancun.

Shotover Jet is definitely for people that like to live on the edge and want an adrenaline rush. The drivers of these boats must have been daredevils or stunt drivers before taking on their jobs at Shotover Jet because they do crazy things during the whole tour and, if you are sane, you'll be begging to go back to dry land.

For a unique take on "boating", check out the Cancun Duck Tour. It starts out as a driving tour of Cancun's hotel zone and then ends up as a boat tour in the lagoon...all in the same vehicle. The amphibious vehicle is a bus and a boat. This tour is a big hit with adults and children. It's not terribly expensive and is so much fun. You'll have a blast on this tour.

For fishing trips, Aquaworld, Aquatours Adventures, and AquaFun are your best bets.
