Yucatan
The next state over, Yucatán offers one of the new Wonders of the World, Chichen Itza. The capital city of Merida is also worth a visit, particularly on weekends. Also of note are the flamingo colonies at Celestun and Ria Lagartos, and the colonial town of Izamal.
