- Snorkel with the largest fish in the sea. Here is an opportunity to experience an encounter with the whale shark, the rarest and biggest (up to 30 feet long) of all sharks. Although intimidating, they seem to enjoy the attention. As they are only interested in eating plankton and small fishes, snorkelers are a bit too big for their tastes. From May through September these friendly creatures migrate to the warm, turquoise waters of the Caribbean Sea. Snorkeling is a great way to explore the waters of the Yucatan Peninsula. Dolphins, mantas, sea turtles and numerous schools of colorful tropical fish are plentiful in these clear, warm waters and coral reefs.
