The Question
Public Question Asked by mellee about Cancun
Hi there! Now I have more questions concerning where I should stay in Cancun with my 15 year old daughter. I think we have ruled out the JW
Marriott because of the beach and water. Would you reccommend the Dreams or the Fiesta Americana Coral Bay. Again she wants an active resort with activites at the pool. A nice beach to lay out on with activities and swimmable water. Help where should we stay???

Well, now you're talking! The Coral Bay is always on the top lists of resorts in Mexico so I guess that I'd choose it over Dreams. The beach is wider at Coral Bay, as I recall, because it faces north (a bit directionally challenged here!) rather than east so somewhat less erosion. The staff does a good job raking the seaweed. check what extra charges there are at the hotel...like for internet or the gym...things your daughter might want to do...they can add up. Or upgrade to the concierge floor which can end up costing you less, sometimes, once you include extra charges. between Dreams and Coral Bay, I'd pick Coral Bay!

Given those 2 choices, I'd have to pick Dreams Cancun if I were traveling with a teenager. Granted, Fiesta Americana Grand Coral Beach is an incredible hotel, but it upscale and doesn't have as many activities to keep your child occupied as Dreams does. That being said, the pool at Fiesta Americana Grand Coral Beach is much larger and nicer than the pools at Dreams...but Dreams has 2 beaches (one on the Caribbean Sea and one on the Bay of Mujeres). Overall, I think Dreams will be a better fit for your teen than FAGCB.
