Afraid that a Cancun party vacation somehow just isn´t sophisticated enough? Don´t worry the surroundings are oozing with ancient Maya Culture to impress your friends...and the night scene just might make em jealous.
Day Note
Take it easy this first day. Hit the beach, thats what you´re hear for...
This is next door to, and owned by, The City. If you need a break from one scene, slip into the other.
Styled like a Mexican mansion, this beachfront resort comprises just 28 individually designed guestrooms, studios, and suites. Decor features artifacts, plants, and wood ceilings. Suites include kitchens and two-person spa tubs on terraces or balconies. Facilities include a Venetian-tile pool, a two-floor restaurant, a contemporary bistro, and Cancún's original beach bar. Rooms are offered in the European Plan, which includes room accommodations only.
Avalon Baccara Cancun
Day Note
Nurse that first day sunburn by visiting the museum and learning a bit about Maya culture. Follow it up with a visit to La Destileria to lear a bit about tequila- Mexico´s national beverage of choice.
It's not just fun at the beaches and Cancún's shops; there are also some areas of cultural interest for those who like exhibitions or artistic expressions such as photography, sculpture and plastic arts. At the Museo del INAH (National Institute of Anthropology and History), you will find great exhibitions year-round, displaying works by Mexican and foreign artists. Admission is free for most of the exhibitions and the works are distributed through several small rooms. Don't miss the best national exhibitions on your next visit to Cancún, a heavenly place full of fun and culture.
Day Note
Book a day trip to the fantastic ruins at Chichen Itza. They are a bit out of the way, but well worth the trip.
Roughly 200 Km. West of Cancún along the way to Merida, these ruins are a must for anyone even remotely interested in Maya culture and history. Visit in a single day, or spend some time in the colonial town of Valladolid to explore the region in more depth.
Chichen Itza
Day Note
If you did Chichen Itza right, you´ll be worn out the next day. Sleep in late, lay on the beach and sample the famous Cancun nightlife.
Blue Bayou's main feature is its style of cuisine: Creole or Criolla, as it is known in Latin America. Specialties include Cajun chicken and long-grained rice, just as you'd have it in old New Orleans. The music varies from contemporary, to jazz, to Dixieland. After a long day at the beach, the soft lighting and atmosphere are excellent for catching up with old friends and for making new ones. Decoration includes a waterfall and beautiful gardens. Live jazz music plays during dinner. Expensive. Parking available, bilingual staff.
If you still enjoy a night out, but have outgrown the "hot bod" and "wet t-shirt" contest scene, this may be the place for you. Though part of the Dady'O & Dady Rock compound, it is a bit more sophisticated, and just as fun.
Blue Bayou
Day Note
It's your last day and you really haven´t partied that much! Have a nice steak for dinner and then hit the dance clubs.
This restaurant has a traditional and modern feel, a celebration of the past and of the future. The theme is even reflected in the menu, which pairs age-old Argentinean recipes with new gourmet tastes. The appetizers are especially daring, including cocktails with fully unshelled shrimp and raw oysters. The entree menu however, is somewhat tame by comparision, serving steaks and seafood dishes with unusual spices and sauces. Complementing the meal is the casual but elegant setting, from soft music and lighting, to warm brick walls and sunset views over the ocean. The entire picture creates a great overall ambiance that makes this a great choice for dining out in Cancún.
At this popular club and restaurant, you get a party atmosphere, and an enthusiastic audience, all with the backdrop of one of the most exciting areas of the island. The restaurant serves a wide variety of traditional dishes, international fare, and snacks that are sure to get the party started before you hit the dance floor. Try out the spicy chicken wings or a well-seasoned fillet of fish. After dinner, this place is the perfect local to dance and sing the night away. The hosts often let their creativity run wild by devising games and fun competitions, and the atmosphere is always friendly and upbeat.
