Notre-Dame de Bon Voyage

Description:

  • On the Square Mérimée, in front of the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès, stands the Notre-Dame de Bon Voyage church. Designed by architect Laurent Vianay, it replaced a 1580 chapel called Notre-Dame de Bon Port (behind which, after his escape from Elba, Napoleon spent a night on March 2, 1815). The main door of the church is beautiful and has been designed and crafted by ceramist and artist Roger Capron. Though a century has passed, the construction of the church has only just been completed.
