What are the best cool things to do in Canyonlands? The scenic hikes...the historic remnants of long-gone cultures...the bike trail with amazing views. What makes them cool activities to do in Canyonlands? The hot tips you'll get about them here!
Upheaval Dome is a geological mystery. What caused it to heave up and reveal all those crazy rock formations? Check it out and wonder for yourself. Cave Spring Trail shows off old cowboy artifacts, plus you can climb a cool ladder along the way. Mesa Arch has the classic shot of Canyonlands, especially at sunrise. And for the younger members of your group, check out the Junior Ranger program. It's geared toward introducing kids to the concept of being awesome stewards of the land, which we think is pretty darn cool.
Salt Creek Canyon is a great back of beyond hike, has water available much of the year, and shows off ancient rock art. Some of Canyonlands' best views are along the remote Elephant Canyon/Druid Arch Trail. Chesler Park Loop can be a day hike or an overnight trip, and it boasts really beautiful sandstone pinnacles and fins to catch your imagination. Big Spring to Squaw Canyon Loop is probably our favorite loop trail in the area for its fantasy world of jumbled slickrock.
Biking the Colorado Overlook Road is a very cool activity that we heartily encourage. As the name implies, you'll get to a great spot above the river. It can also be driven in 4WD vehicles, and you might just catch a glimpse of bighorn sheep.
