  • NileGuide Expert Says:

    Geologically unusual in the area

  • NileGuide Expert tip:

A great sunrise hike for photographers.

    Description:

    • Upheaval Dome is a geologic oddity. Its central depression of soft, deformed rocks were eroded down by a tributary of the Green River. Technically, Upheaval Dome is an anticline: rocks were shoved upward and then eroded. It is 500 meters deep and 1500 meters wide. The overlook provides a spectacular view of these interesting features.
