After making the long trip to the southern tip of Africa, your kids are probably ready to run wild. Lucky you're in Cape Town, a giant playground. With so many activities, unique wildlife, and a relaxed atmosphere, Cape Town is the perfect place for you and your kids to be young at heart. Take the kids to the World of Birds. Enjoy viewing over 3,000 birds of all kinds, seen in walk-through aviaries. The daily feeding of the pelicans, the penguins, birds of prey and the special Black Eagle are events not to be missed. Other animals, such as meerkats and leguwaans make this a place of great interest to children. There is a cafe, which serves breakfast, light lunches and tea and coffee, as well as a curio shop with bird paraphernalia.
The kids will also love the Warrior Toy Museum, which hosts a permanent exhibition of dolls, model cars, boats, trains, soldiers, airplanes and other toys. And don't forget to inquire about the inexpensive miniature vehicles you can take home with you.
No family-friendly outing is complete without a stop at the Exploratorium. Children of all age groups will be entertained as they embark on an exciting journey where technology, learning and fun meet. This is an interactive science center dealing with light, sound and electricity. Older kids will love the Grand Prix F1 simulator, which really gets the adrenaline pumping. Other activities include a gyroscope on which astronauts are trained to get used to weightlessness in space. Let the kids go crazy with these family-friendly Cape Town activities. And don't be shy now, it's okay for you to have fun, too.
