• On a spectacularly elevated site overlooking the Atlantic Ocean and premier suburb of Bantry Bay, this gorgeous Relais & Châteaux member is in a class of its own, and -- with only 11 rooms -- the most exclusive address in Cape Town. Once the stately residence of Sir John and Lady Ellerman, the house has been meticulously restored to its original early-20th-century splendor, with renovations and additions blending seamlessly. The views, which evoke comparisons with the Riviera, are a feature of almost every window (of which there are many) and balcony, and the sheer grace and style of the place make you feel like royalty. If you're staying in room no. 6 (no view) or room no. 3 (view, but no balcony), spend your days on the broad patio (where drinks and meals are served) or in the terraced garden with a large pool, from where you can see forever. For a view from your bathtub, book room no. 1. Chefs create each day's menu around fresh produce and will honor any special requests. Personally, this is my top choice in Cape Town, and if I could give it more stars, I would.
