• Like Cape Cadogan , this small guesthouse is run more like a little boutique hotel, with excellent service standards and plenty of thoughtful touches. Decor manages to be both soothingly tasteful and full of character -- this has a lot to do with the great art you'll find everywhere, much of it for sale. Rooms are spacious and airy -- as a general rule of thumb, there's no need to splash out on a deluxe room when the luxury category is so delightful; however, you might make an exception for Oranjezicht and Leeuwenzicht, both of which have wonderful city views. I was less impressed by the suite, a free-standing "cottage" in the Provençal-inspired garden -- big, but no views, and quite pricy (as a family I'd rather book Oranjezicht and Oakmont, which share a balcony). A lot of thought has gone into each room, right down to the fresh milk in the fridge (to make a proper cuppa), the quality of the wines and snacks, and the beach bag with large towels and a Frisbee you'll find in every cupboard. There is also a great restaurant list, from those that are within walking distance to as far afield as Constantia, with brief descriptions of the cuisine served and detailed directions on how to get to each one. A flawless little operation.
