  • Competing with the Mount Nelson, Ellerman, and Cape Grace as the preferred location for the rich and famous, this glitzy hotel is in a prime position on the Prince Alfred Breakwater, right next to the Waterfront shopping mall -- Table Mountain views are standard features. It doesn't have the sense of exclusivity or privacy of the aforementioned competitors (Michael Jackson is reputed to have stayed here because he wanted to hear his fans chanting in the parking lot), but the service standards are equally high; best of all, it's ideal for shopaholics: The hotel is directly connected to the Waterfront's Victoria Mall. The public spaces (designed by the Lost City team) are superb, but standard rooms are small and dull; opt for a luxury room or suite (or a room at the Cape Grace or the Mount Nelson) instead.
