Description:
- Cape antiquity meets modern Dutch Continental cuisine, a combination which led Five Flies to earn itself a super reputation. Five Flies is set in a Rembrandt house, a two-storey townhouse in the City Centre, with no less than nine dining rooms and the De Oude Kelder courtyard bar. Each room is restored to its original hue and six layers of paint were removed to reveal ancient friezes. On offer are classy Continental dishes with exquisite sauces and Dutch touches. A chef's favour is served at the beginning of your meal. The oyster and leek soup with sparkling wine, tarragon, leeks and Earl-Grey marinated quail eggs is memorable. There's a 12-page wine list, which is unfortunately, a little pricey.
