Floris Smit Huijs

Description:

  • This veteran of city dining has been under the sure hand of its present ownership for over eight years. A great place to relax to the light sounds of Jazz and Latin music whilst enjoying global fare. Situated in a corner house built in 1758 by the Dutch immigrant after whom it is named, it is decorated in an eclectic, fun blend of Art Deco and an African motif on a bold turquoise backdrop. Add to this the eccentric ostrich egg lights and you are free to imagine a world of your own. The fare comprises a miscellaneous mix of world flavours, with a handful of interesting game dishes, not least the frequent special of leg of guinea-fowl stuffed with sage, mushrooms and celery served on a sweet potato puree with blueberry and whiskey sauce. There's a slim list of 18 wines, but you'll find what you're looking for at fair prices.
