Groot Constantia Manor House and Wine Museum

• The first Governor of the Cape, Simon van der Stel, was the original owner of this historic wine farm, back in 1685. It is still known for producing excellent cultivars, and the historical buildings on the property have been restored and are under the auspices of the South African Cultural History Museum. The magnificent Cape-Dutch style manor house contains a grand collection of period art and furniture. Other buildings around the manor house each have their own function linked to their historical use, such as the wine cellars, which house a wine museum exhibiting wine-making equipment.
