- The Old Harbour in Hermanus was the center of activities amongst the residents 150 years ago, and still is, to this day! The bay teamed with fish, and the local fisherman went out in rowing boats to catch a large varieties of fish. Anglers came from all over the world to catch the "Big One", pictures of which are displayed in the museum! Above the Old Harbour, is the town square, with stalls, shops and restaurants a plenty! During the months of June-November the Southern Right Whales visit our shores, in Walker Bay, and are clearly seen a few metres from the shore line. We have the worlds only Whale Crier, who blows a natural horn, which is a piece of dried kelp, to alert visitors of the presence of these majestic mammals! Annually, the last week of September, Hermanus hosts the Whale Festival, which is a must visit to this coastal resort:Possibly the best land based whale spotting area in the world! We look forward to seeing you, and for you to enjoy many other attractions which this area has to offer. To name but a few>shark cage diving, Penguins, Dolphins, Seals, 100's of shore based and aquatic birds, Fynbos(indigenous floral kingdom) magnificent beaches, coastal and mountain walks, international and local cousine! 1 to 5 star Accommodation!
