  • NileGuide Expert Says:

Charming town, and worth the stop. Check out the castle!

  • Description:

    • Redstone provides access to a varied group of recreation opportunities. The Maroon Bells - Snowmass Wilderness Area and White River National Forest comprise the public lands in the area. Activities include but are not limited to hiking, horseback riding, backpacking, fishing, mountain bike riding, motorcycle and OHV riding, cross-country skiing, snowmobiling and snowshoeing. Redstone is also a historic district that began as a coal mining town. The Redstone Castle, built by the mine owner, and the coke ovens, which line Highway 133, are standing reminders of the bygone mining economy that stimulated settlement of the area. Directions: From Carbondale travel south on Hwy. 133 to Redstone.
