Cardiff has an eclectic mix of restaurant’s available so you won’t be stuck finding something yummy to eat.
There are several award winning restaurants in the area. Gallois Y Cymro has won recommendations in The Good Food Guide and two AA rosettes. Frommer’s also recommended it. The restaurant’s menu changes regularly and has contained dishes such as tuna with horseradish, Welsh lamb, grilled goat’s cheese, and lemon tart served with raspberries.
The Restaurant at Pilot House Wharf, a popular seafood restaurant, lies above a fishing tackle shop. You can’t get fresher than the seafood served here – each dish is based on the catch of the day. There are other dishes on the menu if you’re not a fish fan. Pot-roasted free-range chicken with smoked bacon, and braised half shoulder of Welsh lamb are two popular choices.
Henry’s Bar is a popular choice with the going out crowd. This lively bar and restaurant is close to the New Theatre in the city center. They do some great set lunches as well as serving dinner. Dishes on the menu include Thai chicken, pasta and salad.
Sushi fans should head to Zushi - Wales’ first conveyor-belt restaurant. Oriental Garden is a great Chinese restaurant situated in Cardiff Bay. If you love a bargain head here for lunch between Monday and Thursday and pay £5.95 a head compared to £13.95 for dinner on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Another good restaurant on the bay is the pizza chain Pizza Express. You’ll find the usually pizza, pasta and salads but have the added bonus of a great view of the water.
