    Description:

The great thing about Starbucks is you are free to curl up on one of their sofas for as long as you like, without anyone trying to wake you up. There are two outlets of this popular coffee chain in Cardiff, one has outside seating and the other has an upstairs lounge, so take your pick. Particularly good in summer are the iced coffees, blended drinks of crushed ice and milk with flavourings such as caramel and vanilla. In the winter, though, there's nothing better than one of their huge mugs of mocha coffee topped with whipped cream and chocolate.

    Caffè Nero

    Caffè Nero - Cardiff

    Description:

A smart, little coffee house in the middle of the city centre shopping area, Caffè Nero offers hot drinks and snacks all day long and is very popular with business people in the city. Tables spill out onto the pavement in summer months for a breath of fresh air while you relax, though the street outside is quite busy so you may be better off on one of the bar stools by the window. The early opening hours make this an ideal place to stop for a quick cuppa before work or a hard day's sightseeing.

    Kitchen (The)

    • Location:

    • Market Road
    • Chapter Arts Centre
    • Map

    Description:

Relive your school days. The Chapter Arts Centre was once a school and apart from the attached bar, its busy cafe still retains the look of a canteen. Rest assured though, that the food is a whole world away from the overcooked meat and soggy cabbage of the dreaded school dinner. Once wholly vegetarian, Kitchen still keeps an emphasis on healthy eating but has allowed meat dishes to creep onto the menu. Italian chicken in red wine, Welsh cawl (lamb and vegetable soup), parsnip and almond burgers and cranberry and brie ciabatta are among the tempting items on offer, and there's not a dinner lady in sight.
