• Twice a year, the quiet Downtown Village of Carlsbad comes alive with the largest one-day fair in America. Held on the first Sundays of May and November, the fair witnesses a spread of food and drink, to the accompaniment of music and spontaneous entertainment on the streets. More than 850 vendors sell wares of all kinds in rows of stalls; expect to find unique clothes, arts and crafts, antiques and knick-knacks from all over the world. Booth spaces sell out up to six months in advance, so be sure to hurry if you want to display your wares. Over 90,000 people crowd the streets generally creating a carnival-like atmosphere. The traditional pancake breakfast must not be missed—a delicious treat for all ages!
