Abla's Lebanese Restaurant

Abla's Lebanese Restaurant - Carlton
  • Cuisines: Middle Eastern
  • NileGuide Expert Says:

Melbourne's best choice for Lebanese cuisine.

  • NileGuide Expert tip:

    Try the banquet.

    Description:

    • Lebanese born Abla Amad opened her restaurant in 1979, and while she describes it as simple and humble, it is nevertheless become a Melbourne institution. The restaurant is quite small and voices might be hard to hear at certain times, but this adds to the festive atmosphere. The menu has a great selection of Lebanese fare but the banquet consisting of dishes such as Makaneek, Silverbeet rolls, Ladies' fingers, Loubyee, Tabbouleh, Kibbee, Falafel, Lahem mishwee and Turkish delight is the best way to get an appreciation of Abla's heritage. While it might be a mammoth task to finish everything Abla will undoubtedly be there urging diners on to keep eating. The Home-made Lebanese lemonade with rose water is ideal to wash it all down.
