A fun getaway

Description:

Tucked into the mountains below Virginia City, the Gold Hill Hotel is one of the oldest hotels in the Reno/Tahoe area. Built around 1862, the hotel is updated for modern conveniences, but still retains the historic charm of the original. Enjoy the relaxed atmosphere of the hotel's 19 wonderful rooms and lodges surrounded by great views, perfect hiking, crisp, clean air. The Crown Point restaurant serves gourmet French food and the Gold Hill Saloon is covered in dollar bills and is a perfect place for a drink and to enjoy the large fireplace.

During certain times of the year, the Gold Hill Hotel offers a dinner and historical lecture series featuring discussions and programs about life on the Comstock.

Note: the Gold Hill Hotel is said to be haunted by several Victorian era ghosts. Guest have a choice of either staying in the new part of the hotel, or the older part. If you are interested in a bit of ghost hunting, ask for "Rose's Room" which is said to be haunted by the ghost of a former prostitute who smells like roses.
