• Lying only a 10-minute ride west from the center of Cascais, this is a lavish resort sprawl that appeals to those who want to settle in for a few days at a swank government-rated five-star resort. "We have everything," the manager assured us. Not quite, but there's plenty to coddle you in luxury and amuse you during your stay. Rooms are attractively and luxuriously furnished with individual balconies and double-glass windows; each comes with a roomy, tiled bathroom with tub and shower. Surrounded by pine woods, the resort is one of the most tranquil in the area. If you'd like to spread out close to the golf course, you can rent a villa with a kitchenette, living room with fireplace, and daily cleaning service. The food is a refined version of regional dishes and international specialties as best reflected in the Five Pines Restaurant. Golfers can enjoy lunch at the clubhouse. A seafood restaurant also opens onto the water. This is one of the few hotels in the area with a summer-only Kids Club, which brings in families.
