Tips and reviews

Here's what Trippy members say about Castelo dos Mouros:

"Day 1. Your apartment is within central historical Lisbon, so imo that's a big advantage. The city is very walkable indeed and you will see much, much more if you mostly explore it on foot. Day 2. As above. Use this day to explore the historical centre mostly on foot, but make sure you also ride all four of Lisbon's elevadores (four short funicular railways plus the Santa Justa lift) and take the excellent tram 28 route which whizzes through the narrow streets of Lisbon's oldest area. Taking tram 28 from terminus to terminus (and back again) is an excellent way of seeing the city, a chance to rest your feet during the heat of the day and makes a very relaxing an enjoyable evening trip. :-) Get a day ticket (6.15 euro, though you'll pay a few eurocents more for the 7 Colinas card on which the ticket is put) from any of the ticket kiosks in central Lisbon. There is no point in buying a ticket at the airport as it does not cover any airport route.Information in English on the official Lisbon transport site here:"  See More

"The Palácio Nacional de Sintra has beautiful gardens you can go for a stroll in and then head over to the Castelo dos Mouros In Caiscais you can spend time along the seashore, go diving or snorkeling, wander around town and eat some great seafood on the shore."  See More

"Of course you also have lots of museums in Sintra (Pena National Palace, Tivoli Palácio de Seteais, Castelo dos Mouros) and Lisbon (Jerónimos Monastery) but this you can find on the internet through tourist websites!"  See More

"Lisbon should take one day. Sintra should take one day (maybe exhausting). Cascais should take less. If you'd like more advice please inform the area where you're staying (for public transportation details), food preference, night style preference, any special interests, etc. Lisboa Belém Depending on where you're staying get tram car number 15 from Praça da Figueira to Mosteiro dos Jerónimos and go to the tourist office (small one in the corner of Praça do Império). Visit Belém area. Next to the tourist office: - Mosteiro dos Jerónimos Three gardens next to each other (from west to east): - Praça do Império - Jardim Vasco da Gama - Jardim Afonso de Albuquerque By the Tejo river (you have to cross the railway in a pedestrian tunnel next to Padrão dos Descobrimentos): - Padrão dos Descobrimentos - Torre de Belém Downtown One hour walk: - Terreiro do Paço (Praça do Comércio) - PRAÇA DO COMÉRCIO - Baixa (downtown) - Praça da Figueira - Rossio - Praça dos Restauradores - Avenida da Liberdade - Parque Eduardo VII - Praça Duque de Saldanha (three shopping centers for convenience) Castelo de São Jorge: from downtown "climb" to Castelo de São Jorge through Alfama during the day (maybe lunch). Bairro Alto: from downtown "climb" to Bairro Alto through Chiado during the evening/night (maybe dinner and/or drinks). Parque das Nações (optional) Take the subway, Red Line to Oriente. Take a walk by the river both in south and north directions. There are plenty of gardens, restaurants and bars there. Alternatively you can ride the cable car with a panoramic view. Sintra Depending on where you're staying catch the train from Sintra line which begins in Restauradores and go to the end of the line (Sintra). It's better to come back to Lisbon for dinner or maybe get a taxi after dinner. The train _may_ not be the safest choice during the night. Go to the tourist office. Just ask for "turismo", locals will hopefully show you the way. There's much to see/visit (check )."  See More

"I agree with the suggestion above to visit Sintra, including Palácio da Pena, Piriquita (where you can eat the famous Travesseiros de Sintra) and Castelo dos Mouros."  See More
