Getting There
Changchun's Longjia Airport, opened in 2005, is 31km (19 miles) northeast of town. Flights connect it to major cities including Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Dalian, Hong Kong, Seoul, and Tokyo. The China Eastern Airlines ticket office (Zhonguo Beifang Hangkong Shoupiao Chu; tel. 0431/272-5001 and 0431/272-5026; open 8am-4:40pm) is at Xinfa Lu 32, through the second door on the building's west side. Airport buses from Menghan Binguang and Changchun Zhan go to the airport every hour; it takes 20 minutes and costs ¥20 ($2.60/£1.30). By taxi, fares cost ¥60 to ¥70 ($7.80-$9.10/£3.90-£4.55).
Express trains connect to Beijing (two daily; 6 hr.; ¥298-¥311/$39-$40/£19-£20), Harbin (two daily; 1 1/2 hr.; ¥76/$9.90/£4.95), Shenyang (10 daily; 2 hr. 11 min.; ¥93/$12/£6.05), Jilin City (10 daily; 1 1/2 hr.; ¥16/$2.10/£1.05), Shanghai (12:55pm; 29 hr.; ¥458/$60/£30), and Dalian (6:18am; 7 1/2 hr.; ¥175/$23/£11). The railway station (Changchun Zhan) is north of downtown, at the top of Renmin Dajie.
Air-conditioned buses to Harbin (all day; 3 1/2 hr.; ¥76/$9.90/£4.95) and Shenyang (all day; 3 1/2 hr.; ¥82/$11/£5.30) leave from a white building at Renmin Dajie 6 (behind the Chunyi Binguan). Regular buses to Jilin City (2 hr.; ¥24/$2/£1) leave every few minutes from the north side of the building. Private cars leave from the railway station parking lot for cities east; prices are negotiable (¥200/$26/£13 to Yanji is reasonable).

Jetta taxis charge ¥5 (65¢/35p) for the first 2.5km (1 1/2 miles), then ¥1.30 (20¢/10p) per kilometer. Buses (¥1-¥2/15¢-25¢/10p-15p) are pay-as-you-board. Bus no. 6 runs from the railway station through the middle of town on Renmin Dajie; bus nos. 62 and 362 both wind from the railway station to Renmin Guangchang and pass Xinmin Guangchang, with stop announcements in English.
