Terrace Hippodrome Widescreen Theatre

Description:

  • Formerly known as the Charleston IMAX that closed in 2007, this giant one-screen theatre reopened in May of 2009 with a bang showing the new Star Trek movie with upgraded screen and sound. Named after an ancient Greek chariot race arena, the theatre's schedule includes monthly changes with first-run blockbuster features. With comfortable, rocking-chair seats to accommodate 426 patrons to view a 40-foot wide by 70-foot high screen, it's a welcome addition to the historic district. Located on Charleston Harbor next to the Charleston Aquarium and Fort Sumter Museum at Liberty Park, patrons parking in the nearby garage will receive a discount on refreshments. - Natasha Lawrence
