The Best of NileGuide
- A gem of the south, Charleston has no shortage of things to do. One of the most historical cities of the southeast, Charleston is often known for its major landmarks. Charleston's Battery Park is often where many locals and visitors gather. The waterfront park offers great picture-taking opportunities and is within walking distance of many other Charleston attractions and restaurants. One of Charleston's most historic and popular attractions is Fort Sumter. Site of the beginning of the Civil War, the fort is only accessible by boat but is a fun half-day excursion. Close in popularity is the USS Yorktown, which was an aircraft carrier that was extensively used during World War II. As much as Charleston is known for its historic landmarks, another popular activity is Bulldog Tours and other tours that typically leave from downtown. These include ghost tours, downtown walking tours, home tours and carriage tours.
