  • Although a variety of lodging options are found throughout Charleston, most of the accommodation choices consist of the city's famous historic mansions that have been turned into inns. These can be found throughout the Charleston area, although most of these are in the historic downtown district. The John Rutledge House Inn and Two Meeting Street are but two of the many historic mansions that offer first class amenities and service, but with a quaint and cozy ambiance.

    Visitors who enjoy the southern charm, but want something bigger, may prefer one of Charleston's historic hotels, like the Charleston Place or the Francis Marion. Both of these hotels offer the history and charm that are typically found at Charleston's historic inns, but offer the amenities of a hotel.

    To find a resort, guests have to travel a little ways out of the city, either to Wild Dunes or Kiawah Island Resort. Both are inclusive resorts that offer golf, shopping, nightlife, restaurants, pools and convenient beach access.
