Isle of Palms

Just north of Sullivan's Island, you cross the Breach Inlet and come to what has become known as Charleston's most popular island, the Isle of Palms. Although it's changed quite a bit from the late 1800s - when you could only access it by water or a one-way railroad bridge - the Isle of Palms still maintains its tropical charm. An idyllic oasis just a short drive from downtown Charleston, the Isle of Palms is lined with pristine beaches and many small marsh creeks. If you're staying on the island, the Wild Dunes Resort features plush accommodations right on the beach and offers golf, tennis and boating activities.
