Description:
- Originally a post office and general store, The Old Post Office Restaurant features an excellent menu of low country specialties and regional favorites. Converted in 1988, this is one of the only white-linen restaurants you will find on Edisto Island. Recommended items include the Low Country Escargots (which are actually oysters) swimming in a delicious broth, the tender "Fussed Over" Pork Chop, and the famous creamy grits which are slow-cooked all day long and served alongside most entrees. The Old Post Office Restaurant been been featured in USA Today, Wine Spectator, Travel and Leisure, and Gourmet magazine, and they have their own cookbook. Open Tuesday through Saturday for dinner only; reservations are highly recommended.
