Description:
This is an eclectic and energetic bistro with a casual attitude and some potent references to fine dining. You'll find an exposed kitchen, a high ceiling crisscrossed with ventilation ducts, and vague references to the South of long ago in this snazzily rehabbed 18th-century warehouse. Winner of many culinary awards, it justifiably promotes itself as Charleston's culinary maverick, priding itself on having introduced, in the early 1990s, stylishly updated versions of the vittles that kept the South alive for 300 years. Yet S.N.O.B. remains a potent contender on the culinary who's who of Charleston. Main courses can be ordered in medium and large sizes. An array of freshly made salads, soups, sandwiches, and daily specials greet you at lunch. Dinners are more elaborate, including grilled barbecued tuna glazed with mustard sauce and topped with fried oysters, country ham, and green onions; or roasted rack of lamb with green beans, pearl onions, and a rosemary-flavored cabernet sauce.
