Historical Things to Do in Charlotte

  • The Best of NileGuide
  • The largest city between D.C. and Atlanta, Charlotte offers attractions that aren’t always found in every metro in the Carolinas. Charlotte has its own version of Central Park, with Freedom Park, a 100-acre park that includes walking trails and sport and recreation activities.

Charlotte’s gem among young travelers is Carowinds, one of the most popular amusement parks on the east coast. Located outside of the perimeter, Paramount Carowinds is a 100+ acre amusement park that is known for its many exhilarating roller coasters. During the summer, on hot afternoons, travelers enjoy the break that the water park offers at Carowinds.

During the warmer months, visitors flock to Charlotte on the weekends for the outdoor concerts that take place at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater. One of the largest outdoor music venues in the south, it draws major musicians, such as the Dave Matthews Band. The concert schedule typically begins at the beginning of spring and runs until the fall.
